In the iPhone/iPad app, in "flight details", the total route distance is shown in "Statistics". This is practical for rough planning. It does not exist in the PC version, I have to click on every leg to get the leg length and add them, very impractical. Can it be added to the PC version? Basically make the "Timings" part (in "Flight details") of the PC app the same as the "Statistics" (also in "Flight details") of the iPad.
Could we have a "padlock" icon or some option
to lock the route definition
(especially on the iPhone/iPad versions), so we do not accidently modify a leg when all we want is to zoom in or out or pan the map left or right? With a combination of small screens and big fingers I do this all the time.
Would it be possible to define turning points in term of a radial + distance to a reference point or a VOR? When clicking/holding one's finger on a TP, add a sub-menu "reference VOR", or show the radials and distances to the closest VORs or something like that. This would be practical for ATS flight planning in regions with few IFR points to use (swedish CAA demands a point every half hour) or when planning on the PC where the measuring tape is absent (I find the measuring tape cumbersome to use in flight to be honest), but also during the flight, whether I want to practice VOR hopping on trips or just for situational awareness: N56085E142863 takes me a while to figure out on my print map, while SVD R160 D014 I know quite well where I am; If I want or have to divert to ESTA I'll stay on SVD, if I have to divert to ESMS I'll switch to the SUP VOR. Or I want to fly VFR through the Köln/Düsseldorf/Dortmund Bermuda triangle, it's not overly difficult with a couple of intercepts, and a good backup to have in case the GPS is out. This is basic instrument flying that we learn during our PPL in Sweden and have to be able to use.
